ARCHEOLOGICAL TEAM

The Lebanese Syrian Archaeological Excavation Team at Cyrrhus was composed on site in 2006. Led by Jeanine Abdul Massih (Lebanese University) and Shaker Shbib (Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria), we have been carrying out new excavations and researches, in order to understand the successive constructions and occupations in the city and its territory. An important program was developed on the urbanism and the fortification, and investigations of the previously excavated monuments of the site were undertaken. The aim of this work is to study, publish, save, and establish an accurate management of the entire city to prevent it from deterioration and forgetfulness.
